Welcome Delegates!

Hello, Delegates!!! Welcome to BMUN 71’s UN Commission on the Status of Women. My name is James Crawford (he/him/his) and I am happy to serve as your head chair for this session. I know that BMUN can sometimes be very stressful and intimidating, so let me introduce myself and hopefully de-mystify the committee. I am a transfer senior at UC Berkeley studying political theory, and my research interests concern the ways in which technology (mainly artificial intelligence and space exploration) affect conceptions of gender and political institutions. I am from Southern California, right in-between Palm Springs and Riverside, and I used to work in local and federal politics and policy. I am a cat-dad, lover of all things coffee, politics, and Golden Girls, and I am a huge book nerd. This is only my second year being involved in any sort of Model UN, and so I am excited to learn what you all can teach me through experience.

Amisha Wadhwa is a senior at Berkeley, majoring in Business Administration and Political Science, and this is her fourth year chairing for BMUN and second year chairing for UNCSW. She was a Model United Nations delegate for over seven years before joining BMUN, and it was by far one of the most rewarding activities she was involved in (she hopes that you can say the same!). She takes pride in being left-handed and is a sucker for reality TV (from Shark Tank all the way to Love is Blind). Her favorite ice cream flavor is Chunky Monkey from Ben and Jerry’s, and the best era of music is undoubtedly the early 2000s.

Pari Parajuli is a senior studying Data Science with a concentration in Urban Science. She has been a part of MUN since seventh grade (almost a decade now!) and has 3 years of BMUN under her belt. Within Berkeley, she is also a part of the Office of the External Affairs Vice President and the dance group AFX. She loves to dance, cook, and obsess over a new hobby for a couple months at a time. She also spends a fair amount of time watching tv shows, browsing beautiful bookstores, and eating out at places she cannot afford.

My name is Regina Barra Ladron de Guevara (she/her/hers). I am a second year at UC Berkeley studying political science focused on international relations and philosophy. I am from Mexico City, but I moved to San Diego. I have three dogs, but only one is really mine. I adore black coffee, sushi, and Formula 1. I am interested in Politics, and I am also a huge movie buff and rock music lover. This is my first year in BMUN, but I did MUN in middle school and was a secretariat in high school; having that experience in my past makes me very excited to be back in Model UN.

My name is Roxie and I am going to be one of your chairs in BMUN LXXI! I am a freshman at UC Berkeley studying Molecular Environmental Biology and International Relations. This is my fourth year doing MUN and my third year chairing although I’ve never chaired such a large conference before. I actually attended BMUN when I was a delegate and I hope that you all will have as much fun as I did when I was participating. I am always trying to stay busy with lots of different hobbies: I crochet, embroider, play music, read tarot cards, and paint just to name a few. I'm a huge fan of Taylor Swift, the color pink, and animals. I’m super excited to meet all of you in conference and I know that everyone will do an amazing job debating these important topics. See you then!
